Why am I here? What do I want to learn? Part 2

Identify 10 examples of design that illustrate your creative interest.

Although pretty much anything by HelloVon epitomises my creative interest, the two images above from the series of Paralympic posters he designed are a perfect representation of his vibrant and energetic style. While i'm much more fond of his monochrome designs, this is an ideal example of his attention to detail and atmosphere that i find so captivating.

The font of the catchphrase in this advertisement fits the idea like a glove. The impression that there is something tearing away at the words mirrors the commitment that is needed for 'training till you red line'.

The album artwork for Delphic's AColyte Lp illustrates an effective use of software, something I need to develop much more. It's images like these that prompt my interest in the use of digital software.

I love the humorous and fun nature of these EPOS credit card designs, they exhibit a sort of clever and mocking side of design.

This particular spread in Canvas magazine is trying to illustrate the 'sound of black and white', which is shown so perfectly in the layout alone. Such simple layout and image can speak so loudly.

More HelloVon illustrations, kept so simplistic but completely recognisable. This vividly depicts how far a signature style can stretch for both Bowie and Lennon and that between this and their music, they need nothing else to be recognised.

"Commissioning and understanding David Carson are both complex things and, in equal measures, both make him a true master of graphic design. For many young and aspiring designers, the chance to work with David Carson would be an immense honor, and for The Church of London it was no different." - Rob Longworth, Creative Director of Little White Lies magazine

A June 1968 issue of TIME magazine, soon after the assassination of Martine Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy. The image was designed to emphasise the urgency of gun legislation.

HOW TO.. Self Evaluation

What role did you take on in the group?
Designed some initial logo ideas (every group member), set up Facebook page and set up powerpoint.

How well do you think you performed in the role?
Adequately but I was absent on one day so feel as though I could have contributed more.

How well do you think you worked as a group?
Fairly well considering we did not know each other or how the others work. However this meant we had a varied choice of ideas to work from.

What were the positives of working in a group?
Wide variety of opinions and ideas, and the work could be spread evenly among us.

What were the negatives of working in a group?
Difficulty in assigning jobs to certain people to give everyone an even workload, some conflicts in methods of working, and since we didn't know each other it was difficult to know the strengths and weaknesses of each person.

What will you do differently next time?
Find more variety in the brief instead of settling on one very specific question immediately. This was we could have done more work individually as much of this project required all of us at the same time which caused things to progress quite slowly.

Where could you have improved your resolution?
Not been so specific with the brief to give us the opportunity to explore more depth in our final outcome, I found our 'How to' was very limited.

What were the strengths of your presentation?
Consisted of only images for us to explain instead of reading from the presentation and used no notes - gave an impression that we all understood the project and could all individually talk about without help.
